He’s trying to focus, to figure out what they could possibly be hunting that has a sick sort of sense of humor but the memory of barely concealed mischief behind bright amber eyes won’t leave him alone. Stepping away from the case and all the books piled on the table that’s really too close to the ground for him to comfortably sit in front of.

It’s while he’s walking that he runs into the last person he expects to; the one who won’t get out of his head long enough to think clearly. Sam isn’t sure whether it’s a pleasant surprise at first, but then the janitor is ducking his head so much like he’d done back in the professor’s office and the subtle flirting becomes suddenly not-so-subtle. As Sam leans in for a kiss – faint fragrance of mint surrounding him, filling his senses – he decides it’s definitely a pleasant surprise. One he wouldn’t mind repeating.
