100 Fics That I Love #006

I have been horrible at LJ stuff for the last year. But it's the start of a brand new one and I want to start posting again. I really have been writing (though not as much as I should), but I haven't been able to finish anything in longer than I care to think about.

Recently, I got started thinking about something else I've yet to finish: 100 Fics That I Love.

Well, I'm going to change that. I may not have spent enough time writing the last year and a half, but boy have I done a lot of reading. And I'm going to start sharing some of my favorite fics with all of you. :D

This is #6 in my list, but #1 for this new year. It's one I just read this week and I kind of fell head over heels for it.

It's called Give Your Heart (a break)

Summary: Post TBU AU. Life moves on after heartbreak: Kurt knows that more than most. As he tries to put his life back together after Blaine, he finds an unexpected ally in his new coworker and Isabelle's nephew: Sebastian Smythe. As Kurt goes through his new life as a single man, he finds an unexpected depth to Sebastian and realizes that losing the first love of his life doesn't mean he'll never love again.

I started reading Glee fic a while back - it started with a crossover fic I'd read (Harry Potter/Glee) where I fell in love with Kurt Hummel all over again and needed more fic with him. When I stumbled my way around Glee fandom, trying to find fics that I love, I found a new guilty pleasure. That guilty pleasure?

Kurtbastian.

I love (adore) Klaine. My Glee cast playlist has all the Klaine songs right at the top. Come What May makes me cry every time I listen to it.

But Kurt/Sebastian, in fic? Love. (Love, love, love).

And this is my new favorite fic for the pairing. It might even stick as my favorite for a while - I know I'll be reading it again and again at least.

100 Fics That I Love #005

It's been forever since I did one of these, but I'm so excited to be getting back into it. :D I'd gotten sidetracked by having to visit my grandmother out of state and then when I got back I'd spent all my time catching up on stuff I missed. But no more! I want to get back into doing these fairly regularly.

ANYWAYS, the fic I've chosen for this one is another one not in the SPN fandom.

I found this while I was scrolling through cmficfinders to see if there were any good Criminal Minds fic. I'd ventured to that stuff before but hadn't found anything that kept me really invested in the fic. Luckily, this time around I found quite a few fics that I enjoyed. A few of those will get mentioned later on. ;)

Yay! Time for another one of these. And it's my first one that isn't from the Supernatural fandom. :D It's a pre-slash fic that I just roll around for every time I read it.

It's called Promise
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing: Pre-slash Clark/Lex
Rating: PG
Summary: Clark graduates then foils an assassination attempt, and Lex always keeps his promises.

I didn't discover this one until last year when I became obsessed with Clex fic. It was a future!fic when it was first written and published. There was no Rift between Clark and Lex. It takes place after Clark has graduated from high school and Lex invites him to come to Metropolis for the weekend.

I was going to choose something different at first for this one, but I haven't had the time to reread that one yet. But I don't want to get out of the habit of posting a new one of these every few days. So here's a general fic that I love.

It's called Back to Where We Were
Rating: I'd say G, really.
Summary: For the prompt: After Sam gets his soul back, Dean's become even more mother hen than usual (always watching Sam, asking if he's okay, even the occasional "non-chick flick" hug or pat on the back). Sam, still in his 5x18-5x22 mindset because of the wall blocking his memories, is extremely confused. He can't understand why Dean's so, well ... brotherly, after their downhill relationship the last couple of years, but he can't bring it up in case it makes Dean's behaviour stop. Bonus for Dean figuring this out without Sam telling him and assuaging his fears.

It's a hurt!Sam comment!fic that, obviously, takes place after Sam is resouled in Season 6.

I wasn't sure whether to go with another slash fic or a general fic next, but I decided I want to talk about a Jensen/Jared fic that I love.

It's a J2 AU with teacher!Jensen and teacher!Jared that takes place when Jensen starts teaching at a new school.

priceless_pixie sent me the link to this challenge last night. It sounds like a lot of fun and I've decided to have a go of it.

I'll be blogging about "100 Fics That I Love" because goodness knows I've read enough fic to blog about them. :D There will be multiple pairings (and even fic with no pairings at all).

EDIT: I'll also have fics from fandoms besides Supernatural. I started branching out in reading other fics last year (though I'd read Harry Potter fic before ever realizing SPN had some and before I knew what a fandom was). There won't be many as nothing has held onto me as well as SPN has, and always will. But yeah. There will probably be some Clex (Smallville) fic showing up, as well as Leverage and Harry Potter. Maybe others, I'm not sure.
